About Us

We are a group of born again believers that meet at Crete Gospel Hall, Donaldson St. Anfield. We’ve trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as our saviour and are not part of any denomination.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the living word of God, it’s as relevant today as it ever has been. 2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 says :”All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

In the Beginning

Genesis chapter 1 verse 1 says: “In the beginning, God created the Heaven and the earth.” in the following verses we read of God creating everything else, including mankind, and He said that it was good. For God to say that it was good, means that it was perfect.

The Fall (where it all went wrong)

Adam and Eve, the first people that God created, had daily fellowship with God, enjoying His presence. He provided them with everything they needed, yet He also commanded them to not eat of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden. Then the devil appears in the form of a serpent and tempts them to eat the fruit from that tree, telling them it would make them equal with God.

God knew they had eaten the fruit He had told them not to, and cast them out of the garden of Eden, signifying mankind going away from God, and that relationship being broken.

What this means for us

The Bible tells us that our hearts are deceitful and that we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s standards. The bible is indiscriminate on this matter, whether you are rich or poor, young or old, famous or not, we have all gone away from God.

Because of our sin we deserve to spend an eternity away from God in a place that the Bible calls Hell, it’s a place of sorrow, suffering and loneliness.

What has God done for us?

God tells us in His word that He doesn’t want anyone to perish in Hell, so He sent His Son into this world to save sinners. He lived a perfect life and did many amazing miracles, including healing the sick, making the blind see, even raising people from the dead.

However, the purpose of Him coming was to go to the cross of Calvary and take the punishment that we deserve, bearing the pure wrath of God, so that we could be made right with God.

How do I get this salvation?

God offers salvation to every one of us, but it’s a gift that must be accepted

The scriptures tell us that if you confess your sins to God, recognising that you’ve done wrong, and accept His offer of salvation, that your sins will be forgiven, you’ll be made right with God and that after this life, you will be with Him for all eternity.

Is it an urgent matter?

The Lord Jesus tells us in the final chapter of the last book in the bible, (Revelation), that He is going to come back and reward everyone for the things that they have done. Elsewhere it says He will return without warning, so we must be ready, “now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 2)
